- Themenbeschreibung: Localization is a critical component in many modern applications, ranging from tracking equipment in industrial facilities to monitoring livestock in agricultural settings, such as dairy fields. One effective approach for localization is Time-Difference-of-Arrival (TDoA), which relies on precise synchronization between receivers to achieve accurate results.
At LIKE, we are actively researching ultra-precise synchronization techniques and evaluating them in both real-world environments and through simulations. Our primary method leverages **Signals of Opportunity (SoO)** to achieve synchronization. To deepen our understanding and refine these methods, we have developed a simulation framework that models the reception of SoO at various base stations.
As part of this research project, the existing simulator must be enhanced to support the investigation of more complex scenarios. This involves extending its capabilities, conducting thorough testing, and ensuring comprehensive documentation to facilitate future developments.
The obtained outcomes are to be recorded within a written report. Furthermore, the developed source code must be annotated with comments to ensure clarity and understanding. Additionally, the student is required to follow the guidelines established by the DFG (German Research Foundation) regarding Good Scientific Practice.
The following tasks have to be done:
- Familiarization with existing synchronization algorithm
- Familiarization with existing simulation framework
- Extension of simulation framework by implementing a intuitive user-interface and extension of possible simulations
- Testing of different szenarios by evaluating synchronization performance on synchronization data
- Documentation of Development Process for future users
